A testament to the beauty of imperfection with Quiana Lewis

In the world of art, creativity knows no bounds. It often takes us on a journey of self-discovery, evoking emotions we never knew existed. Such was the case when I had the privilege of collaborating with the talented artist, Quiana Lewis. Our partnership unfolded in a rather serendipitous manner, and it turned into an inspiring story of artistic expression.

I first encountered Quiana at a friend's poetry event where she was hosting a raffle. Little did I know that entering that raffle would lead me to an artistic voyage that would forever change my perspective on creativity and self-expression.

Quiana's artwork immediately caught my attention, and it wasn't long before I was drawn into her world of colors and emotions. I knew I wanted her to create a commission for me, a piece that would be deeply personal and meaningful. With a stroke of luck, I won the raffle, and that was the beginning of a beautiful journey.

What struck me most about Quiana was her extraordinary gift. She possessed an innate ability to translate feelings and ideas into visual art. When I approached her about my project, I gave her complete creative freedom and entrusted her to follow her spirit in the process.

To my delight, Quiana decided to incorporate a fragment of my poem into the artwork, bridging the gap between my written words and her visual interpretation. Over the course of a month, she poured her heart and soul into the creation. When she presented the first version to me, it was undoubtedly beautiful, yet something felt amiss.

The initial piece, with its long nails, nose ring, and ring on my finger, did not resonate with my evolving sense of self. The vibrant green leaves in the background, while lovely, didn't quite reflect my personality. It was then that I decided to communicate my vision for the artwork.

Through a series of iterations and heartfelt discussions, we worked together to refine the piece. I requested a more abstract background, one that spoke to my essence, and a shift from green to purple hues. I asked for my nails to be shorter, the removal of the nose ring and finger ring. This process of refining and reimagining took us through about five to seven different versions, each one bringing us closer to the final result.

In the end, the artwork was breathtaking, exceeding my expectations. It perfectly captured the essence of real beauty and love, celebrating the beauty of imperfection. The vivid purple background made the warm, orangey-brown hues stand out, creating a harmonious balance. It was a masterpiece that spoke to my soul.

My collaboration with Quiana Lewis was a remarkable journey of artistic evolution. It reminded me that creativity is not static but a living, breathing force that can be molded and shaped to reflect one's inner self.
